WGCU Highlights Valerie’s House Record $70,000 Scholarship Program for Grieving Students
We’re grateful to our friends at WGCU for highlighting this year’s Valerie’s House Scholarship Program and the incredible young people behind it.
This year, Valerie’s House awarded a record $70,000 in college scholarships to 34 teens and young adults who have experienced the death of a loved one and are continuing their education. The scholarships, ranging from $1,500 to $5,000, help cover expenses like tuition, books, and other school-related costs, giving students one less thing to worry about as they pursue their goals.
Now in its fifth year, the Valerie’s House Scholarship Program is made possible entirely through the generosity of our community. Every scholarship represents an investment in a young person who has faced unimaginable loss but continues moving forward with courage, determination, and hope.
As Founder and CEO Angela Melvin Churchill shared, one of the core messages at Valerie’s House is simple: loss does not have to limit your dreams.
We’re thankful to WGCU for helping share these students’ stories and shining a light on what’s possible when a community comes together to support grieving children and families.
