Did you know that for about $3.50 a day, or $100 a month, you can help Valerie’s Houe provide grief support to a child for a little over a year?

The Friends of Valerie Monthly Giving Club allows its members to spread their donations throughout the year and make a big impact. Supporting Valerie’s House by becoming a monthly donor helps ensure our programs will remain free for grieving families across Southwest Florida. In addition, having Friends of Valerie donate monthly helps enable our team to purchase supplies and plan activities for families ahead of time, ensuring that we will be able to support them in the months ahead. The Monthly Giving Club is an easy way to donate on a budget while supporting children who need your help.

Valerie’s House Board Chair Mike McMurray has been a monthly donor since 2018. His father died in a car crash when Mike was only nine years old. Then, his stepfather died when Mike was twenty-five.

“The biggest gift I can give is in honor of those people that I’ve lost,” Mike said.

Childhood bereavement is a lot more common than people may think. According to Judi’s House CBEM, 1 in 7 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 25. These children are 50% more likely to die by early adulthood than other children who have not experienced a significant loss.
