Valerie’s House Toy Drive: A Heartfelt Holiday Extravaganza

Valerie’s House is overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible community support showcased in Fox 4’s recent coverage of our annual holiday toy drive. You can read the full story and watch their coverage here: Fox 4 Story.

This year’s toy drive has truly been an “extravaganza,” as described by Founder and CEO Angela Melvin Churchill. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, schools, and individuals, we’ve received over 1,000 toys and gifts for children and teens who are part of the Valerie’s House family.

At our holiday party, kids are invited to pick out three gifts, while parents will have the opportunity to 'shop' next week to choose the perfect presents for their children. With over 400 families registered, this effort helps lighten the emotional and financial burdens the holiday season can bring, especially for those grieving the loss of a loved one.

Volunteers, including kids who have benefited from Valerie’s House programs in the past, will wrap all the gifts, ensuring each family feels the love and care of the community.

Angela Melvin Churchill reflected on her own childhood experience of loss, sharing, “Sometimes the holidays can bring up a lot of pain and mixed emotions, especially if it’s their first Christmas or holiday. They might not be in the spirit of wanting to go shopping for their kids, so what we try to do is bless every family with tons of gifts.”

We are still accepting toy donations through December 24th to continue spreading holiday cheer. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and to Fox 4 for helping highlight the impact of this annual tradition. Together, we are ensuring that no child grieves alone—especially during the holiday season.
