FOX 4 Shines a Light on Valerie’s House Teens Receiving $37,000 in Scholarships

Watch the full FOX 4 story by Miyoshi Price

We are so thankful to FOX 4 and reporter Miyoshi Price for visiting Valerie’s House and shining a light on the strength, love, and healing taking place within our walls.

Their story highlighted the incredible bravery of three of our young adults—Carter Koehler and sisters Emely and Kaeley Calderon—who courageously opened up about the losses they’ve faced and how they’ve found hope again through Valerie’s House.

It’s not easy to talk about grief. But these young adults did just that—sharing their pain, their healing, and their dreams with the world. We are in awe of their courage and honesty.

Thanks to the support of our amazing community, 14 Valerie’s House teens and young adults have been awarded more than $37,000 in scholarships to help them continue their education and build a future full of possibility.

“Our mission is no child will grieve alone—and that grief doesn’t have to limit our dreams,” Emely said in the interview.

From firefighting to social work to mental health counseling, each of these young people is using their grief as a source of strength. And with the help of these scholarships, they’re turning heartache into hope.

We are filled with gratitude—for FOX 4, for every donor who made these scholarships possible, and for the young people who remind us every day why this work matters.

This is what happens when a community comes together.
This is what love in action looks like.
This is what healing looks like when no child grieves alone.
