Thank You, Fort Myers News-Press, for Shining a Spotlight on Our Inaugural Sunset Soirée
/Valerie’s House is deeply grateful to the Fort Myers News-Press for its thoughtful coverage of our inaugural Sunset Soirée, held on November 21, 2024, at the new Family is Forever home in Fort Myers. The event brought together supporters and guests to celebrate our mission of helping grieving children and families, and we appreciate the News-Press for shining a light on this special evening.
Highlighting a Milestone Event
The Sunset Soirée was a night to remember, marking the first large-scale event held at the Family is Forever home. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and heartfelt stories of resilience from children and families whose lives have been transformed through Valerie’s House programs. A moving musical performance by Valerie’s House kids added a touching note of hope and healing to the evening.
The Fort Myers News-Press beautifully captured the essence of the soirée in their coverage, helping to spread awareness about our mission and the importance of supporting grieving children in Southwest Florida. Their reporting highlighted the event’s success, including the incredible $600,000 raised through the “Fund a Mission” live auction.
A Mission Fueled by Community
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, event sponsors, and attendees, the funds raised will help Valerie’s House continue providing essential services like peer support groups, school programs, and counseling for children and families navigating the loss of loved ones. Victory Layne Chevrolet, our presenting sponsor, alongside event chairs Jeff and Jacque Miloff and honorary chairs Cheryl and Dave Copham, played pivotal roles in ensuring the soirée’s success.
Angela Melvin Churchill, CEO and Founder of Valerie’s House, expressed her gratitude: “It was our first time hosting a festive event for our donors and supporters at our new home. We are so thankful to everyone who shares our vision of no child grieving alone. The Fort Myers News-Press’s coverage amplified this vision and inspired even more people to get involved.”
Addressing a Critical Need
The Fort Myers News-Press also helped bring attention to the urgent need for childhood grief support in our region. With one in seven children in Florida expected to lose a parent or sibling before the age of 25, organizations like Valerie’s House play a crucial role in helping families cope and heal. Since its founding in 2016, Valerie’s House has supported more than 5,000 children and families through its programs.
Spreading Awareness
We are honored that the Fort Myers News-Press chose to spotlight this milestone event. Their dedication to community-focused journalism helps organizations like Valerie’s House reach those who need support and those who wish to help.
