Thank You, Gulfshore Business and WINK News, for Sharing the Story of Valerie’s House Charlotte County’s Recovery After Hurricane Milton
/Valerie’s House in Punta Gorda, a safe space for grieving children and families, recently received critical repairs thanks to the generosity of local contractors and businesses following hurricanes Helene and Milton. While the main building sustained minimal damage, the teen and counseling building was flooded with 18 inches of water.
Thanks to New Era Custom Carpentry LLC, Simplified Building Solutions LLC, Frontline Cleaning & Coating, and MTY Construction, the repairs, which would have cost “tens of thousands of dollars,” were completed at no cost to the nonprofit. The work included new walls, flooring, and concrete reinforcements to protect against future storms.
Despite the flooding, Valerie’s House quickly resumed its grief support groups, continuing to serve children and families in Southwest Florida.
"We are incredibly grateful for the hard work of our staff, supporters, and business leaders who share our mission of helping grieving children," said founder Angela Melvin.
Valerie’s House has been a beacon of hope for over 5,000 children and families across Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Escambia counties. Located in a historic 1921 home, Valerie’s House continues its vital work, providing a safe, healing environment for those coping with loss.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gulfshore Business, WINK News, and the volunteers who made sure Valerie’s House can continue its mission.
