Valerie’s House to Host Sunset Soirée at Shangri-La Springs

Save the date for signature event to support grieving children

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 3, 2018) — Valerie’s House, Inc., a Southwest Florida nonprofit helping grieving children work through the loss of a loved one, is pleased to announce its signature annual event “Sunset Soirée at Shangri-La Springs” will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 pm. on the grounds of the historic Shangri-La Springs property in Bonita Springs.

Florida Gulf Coast University President Mike Martin and Mrs. Jan Martin are honorary chairs of the event. ABC7 evening news anchor Krista Fogelsong will emcee the evening festivities.

Valerie’s House Sunset Soirée will feature Florida’s natural beauty amidst the elegant style of the Shangri-La Springs, a 1920s resort that once welcomed stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era. Guests will enjoy an evening under the starry sky with blues and jazz entertainment, a gallery of children’s artwork and more, all to benefit Valerie’s House. An open bar cocktail hour followed by seated dining and a special program introducing the children of Valerie’s House will round out the evening.

“We are excited to host this wonderful and fun event at the Shangri-La Springs for the second time,” said Angela Melvin, CEO and founder of Valerie’s House. “We are looking forward to sharing the amazing story of Valerie’s House with our community in such a magical Old Florida setting.”

The event provides substantial support for programming that includes support groups for grieving children, their parents, families and other caregivers.

Tickets can be purchased securely online. For information about sponsorship opportunities, please call (239) 246-5763.
