Finding Healing Together: The Da Silva Family’s Journey
/Karina and her two sons, Nicholas (17) and Aiden (6), are still new to Valerie’s House—but in just a few short months, they’ve already found a place where they feel seen, supported, and safe.
The Da Silva Family
After losing their husband and dad to a medical complication, the Da Silva family was surrounded by love from friends and family—but no one truly understood the depth of their grief. That changed when they found Valerie’s House.
“Since joining the peer support groups, both boys have started healing in their own way,” Karina said.
Nicholas, usually the quieter one, has formed meaningful connections and keeps asking to come back week after week. “Valerie’s House makes him feel understood,” Karina shared.
As for Aiden, he loves the friends he’s made and talks about his dad more than ever. “He feels like he’s allowed to talk about his dad now,” Karina said with a smile.
For the Da Silva family, Valerie’s House has become a place where they don’t have to explain their grief—they’re simply embraced. “It’s comforting to know this place will always be here for us,” Karina said.
