Faceless Grief

Faceless Grief

By Caitlyn, age 19

Portrait of a grieving person. Everyone experiences grief at some point in their lives, and it isn’t always easy to tell who is facing grief and when. My painting shows this because it is really just the imprint of a person – not someone who is recognizable or real.

Get Out of the Darkness

Get Out of the Darkness

By Hannah, age 15

Symbolism: My painting means that even if you have been in the darkness of grief, you can always find the light out of the darkness. You can be still consumed in the darkness, but the light will overpower and save you from falling back.

Overcast Love

Overcast Love

By Kolton, age 8

At Valerie’s House children are taught that colors can represent an emotion when they are going through grief. Kolton’s piece represents a mixture of emotions when his loved one died. The word “Love” in black represents a lonely heart. The color choices in his art piece represent anger, sadness, and shock of losing his loved one.
